Be it known that I, MYRON D. BROOKS, of Albany, in the county of Albany, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful device to be attached to bedsteads for the ,purpose of holding the bed-clotl1es in place at the foot of the bed, and it is entitled a Bed-Clothes Holder; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of my invention.

Figure 2 is a vertical central section taken on the plane of a line running parallel with the sides of the bed'.

The object of this invention is to provide a convenient device for holding the bgd-clothes in place at the foot of a. bed. l

My invention consists in providing two rolls, of a suitable length `and diameter, between which the vbedclothes may be held, and fourv arms, two fixed and two movable, in combination with spiral or other proper springs, as will be more fully hereafter described.

E E designates the rolls, which are cylindrical in shape, and of ancha length as to fit within the sides of the bedstead near the foot when attached to arms A A and B B, as shown in iig. 1. A A and B B designate metallic arms, which are hinged together at a, and shaped as shown in the drawing, fig. 1. The lower arms AA are secured permanentlyV to the inner sides of the bedstead, near the foot, by screws or other suitable fastenings, as shown at b b. The ends of these fixed arms A A are made of a cylindrical shape, for the purpose of receiving spiral springs C C by which is adjusted the distance between the rolls E E. The sockets e on the ends of roll E are provided with projections on their ends, which lit and slide easily on the ends of arms A A against spiral springs C C. g designates a pin fastened near the ends of arms A A to prevent roll E' from sliding o'. The ends of arms B terminate in sockets e, into which the ends of roll E are secured.

From the above description it will be seen that the bed-clothes are held between rolls E' and E', as shown in fig. 2, where m n designates the bed-clothes and E E the rolls. The space between rolls E and E is selfadjustable by means of the spiral springs C C. l

To use this device it is only necessary to raise the Aupper roll E, then place the bed-clothes over the lower roll E and press down the upper roll to the position shown in g. 2, when the bed-clothes will be securely held in place.

What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The combination of the rolls E E with the arms A A and B B and spiral springs C C, arranged on a bedstead for holding the clothes of the bed, substantially as described.
