1 Claim. (Cl. 339-159) This invention relates to improvements in illuminated ornaments, and more particularly to a novel star-shaped illuminated ornament.
An object of the invention is to provide a device of the type having a novel multiple socket adapted to retain a plurality of light globes in a structure of the type.
Another object of the invention is to provide a simple, relatively inexpensive and efiicient device of the type.
Other and further objects of the invention will appear as the description proceeds, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, in which:
Fig. 1 is a front view in elevation of an illuminated ornament embodying the invention.
Fig. 2 is a side view in vertical section and partly in elevation of the device.
Fig. 3 is a rear view in elevation partially broken away of the device.
Fig. 4 is a front view in elevation of the socket.
Fig. 5 is a view on line 55 of Fig. 4.
Fig. 6 is a view taken on line 6-6 of Fig. 4.
Fig. 7 is a detail view taken on line 77 of Fig. 3.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, the numeral 10 refers to the device generally, having a pair of perforated star-shaped plates 11 and 12. The front plate 11 is provided with a plurality of ears 13 which are bent or folded about the back plate 12 to form a unit. A multiple socket 14 is formed of two facing plates of nonconductive material 15 and 16 which are slotted circularly in registry as at 17 and 18 to accommodate an inner metal ring 19 and an outer metal ring 20. The plate 15 is also diametrically recessed as at 21 to accommodate the bars 22 and 23 which are integral with the exteriorly extending blades 24 and 25. The outer ring is spacedly apertured as at 26 to accommodate the socket shells 27 2,696,596 Patented Dec. 7, 1954 which are held in snug electrical contact therewith. In each shell 27 is a circular base element 28 which is held by rivet means 29 to the inner ring 19, with a non-conductive washer 30 intervening. The base element 28 is also non-conductive. The bar 22 is connected with inner ring 19 and the blade 24, whereas the bar 23 is connected with the outer ring 20 and the blade 25.
A tapered tube 31 is provided with the c1ips 32 for securing the same to the back wall or plate 12. A ring 33 is secured by means 34 to the tip of a star point 35 opposite the tube 31. A curved socket 36 is provided for reception of the conductor blades 24 and 25 and is equipped with the conventional electrical conduit 37.
It will be understood that the device is capable of many modifications in structure and design, without departing from the spirit of the invention, within the scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed zsmd desired to be secured by Letters Patent of the United tates, is:
A multiple socket comprising a pair of insulation facing plates each having a pair of concentrically spaced registering circular slots, a pair of concentric relatively spaced metal ring bands held in said slots, the outermost ring having spaced apertures therein, metal socket shells held in the apertures of the outermost ring, inner end terminals of said sockets conductively connected with said inner ring and insulated from said socket shells, means connecting said inner end terminals to said inner ring, and a metal blade connected to each ring for connection with an electrical circuit.
