This `invention relates to improvements in a saw clamp, particularly a saw clamp which may be carried in the tool box of a craftsman having use for such a device.
'Saw clamp devices of the above character are usually provided with a body to which is attached a pair of generally parallelly extending jaws between which the saw is secured to hold the same firmly when sharpening. The jaw members are usually of such a length `as to take up considerable space in a tool box or chest of the craftsman,
The general object of the invention is the provision of a saw clamp of the above character which is so constructed as to be collapsible to permit it being compactly folded into a relatively small package.
A more speciiic object of the invention is to provide a saw clamp in which each of the jaw elements will be made in a plurality of sections so related as to be rigidly held together in extended position and to be easily and readily collapsed to be folded with the body of the clamp.
Another object of this invention is the provision of a saw clamp which is so constructed as to be detachably attached to work benches of diierent sizes by means of a three-point engagement therewith.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists of certain novel features of construction, as will be more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

Figure 8 is a sectional View taken substantially along line 8--3 of Figure 2;
Figure 9 is a perspective View of a modified construction of jaw.
Referring to the drawings for a more detailed description of the invention, I designates a saw clamp having a generally U-shaped yoke II pro- 3 Claims. (Cl. 76-78) viding arms I2 and I3 which are integrally connected at their lower portions by means of a bridge I4 and extend upwardly therefrom generally vertically and substantially parallel to each other. The arm I3 is bifurcated providing similar parallelly extending sides I having an opening I6 at each upper end portion thereof. A lever Il having an elongated slot I8 is positioned between the sides I5 and fulcrumed upon a pin I9 extending through said lever and said openings I6. The front jaw of the clamp is pivotally mounted substantially at its middle portion on the upper end of the lever I'I as by means of a pin 2| secured to the upper end of the lever I'I and projecting into the said jaw 20. The rear jaw 22 which is opposite andextends parallel to the said jaw 2E) is also pivotally mounted at substantially its middle portion on the upper edge of the arm I2 as by means of a pin 23 secured to the said arm 2li and projecting into the said jaw 22. The jaw 22 is provided with right angularly extending arms 24, each of which is provided with a spur 25 to engage the work bench to which the clamp is to be attached.
A rod 26 is integrally or otherwise attached on one side of the arm I2 and provides a guide and support for a securing member 2l which comprises two similar ngers 28 (see Figure 7) each of which has a spur 29 at one end thereof and a semi-circular opening 3U at the other end, These two arms 28 when positioned together provide an opening of a size to engage the rod 2'6 and are secured to each other so as to bind on the rod 28 by means of a bolt 3| extending therethrough and a wing nut 32. The member 21 extends toward the work bench with the spur positioned to engage the underside of the bench substantially in a plane with the spurs 25 for detachably securing the clamp to the work bench. It will be apparent that the member 21 may be axially moved along the rod 26 so as to adjust the distance between the spurs 25 and 29 to accommodate various thicknesses of benches. The arm I2 has a portion 33 extending below the bridge I4 and is provided with an opening 34 for the passage of a screw or other means which sometimes may be required or desired as a means of fastening or where it is desired to secure the clamp body permanently in one position.
The front jaw 20 is moved toward the back jaw 22 to clamp therebetween a saw S by means of a camming lever 35 which is pivoted at one end to the sides I5 as at 36 and has a pin 31 thereon which projects into the slot I8 of the lever I"I.
