2 Claims.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in a tooth brush holder.
Its primary object is to provide a sanitary receptacle for tooth brushes when not in use.
A further object of the invention is to provide a receptacle for tooth brushes wherein the same will be kept enclosed from dust, dirt and the like and wherein a case of disinfectant is positioned to make contact with the bristles of the brush when the same is inserted into the receptacle.
With these and other objects in view that may appear while the description proceeds the invention consists in the novel construction and arrangement of parts as hereinafter more specifically set forth, claimed and sho-wn in the accompanying drawings and wherein:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of my improved tooth brush holder showing a number of brushes therein.
Fig. 2 is a sectional view showing the interior construction.
Fig. 3 is a perspective View of the holder frame.
Referring more in detail to the drawings in which similar reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views it will be seen the invention consists in a rectangular case Ill, having apertures II, whereby the same may be secured to a wall or other permanent object. The top and bottom of the case are open. A cap I2, is provided for the top while the bottom is left open for admission of the brushes I3. An inwardly extending lip I4, is formed integral with the front wall of the case, the inner end being slightly turned upward as at I5.
A brush holder frame I6, is positioned inside the case and is secured therein by the lip I4. Said frame consists of a plurality of vertical bars I'I, bent at right angles at the bottom I8, and joined at the top and bottom by horizontal bars I9 and 20.
A rectangular case of disinfectant 2| is also positioned within the receptacle. Said disinfectant case is placed behind the holder frame I 6, by removing the cap I2 and the side of the case facing the holder is open for contact with the bristles of the brushes. A spring 22, secured to the wall of the case I holds the disinfectant normally against the brush holder frame.
When the brush is inserted upwards into the case the bristles 23 slide between the vertical bars I 1, of the holder frame and rest against the disinfectant cake. The pressure from the spring 22, is exerted on the said disinfectant cake and from there to the bristles of the brush. The brush is therefore, held against the back wall of the receptacle.
In order to designate the various brushes which may be held in the case numbers 24, or names as desired may be painted on the front of the case as shown in Fig. 1.
From the foregoing it will be seen the disclosure provides means to temporarily enclose and hold one or a number of brushes and at the same time provide means to disinfect the same.
It is believed that the construction and advantages of the structure shown may be apparent from the foregoing paragraphs taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings without further detailed description.
While the preferred embodiment of the invention has been disclosed, it is understood that minor changes in the details of construction, combination and arrangement of co-operating parts may be resorted to within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.
I claim:
1. In a tooth brush holder as described comprising a case open at the bottom, a lip extending inwardly from the lower edge of the front wall of said case, a 'brush holder frame comprising a plurality of spaced vertical bars having one end bent at right angles forming a horizontal portion secured to said lip, a disinfectant holder disposed between the front wall of said case and said brush holder, and spring means between the front wall of said case and said disinfectant holder for holding the latter in contact with the bristles of the brush and the brush head in holding contact with the back wall of said case.
2. In a tooth brush holder as described comprising a case open at the bottom, a. lip extending inwardly from the lower edge of the front wall of said case, a brush holder frame comprising a plurality of spaced vertical bars connected at their upper and lower ends by horizonta1 bars, said holder having its lower end bent at right angles to provide a horizontal portion secured to said lip, a disinfectant holder disposed between said `brush holder frame and the front Wall of said case, and a at spring secured'to the front Wall of said case and exerting pressure on said disinfectant holder to force the latter into lconj tact with the *bristles of the brush and hold the brush head against the back Wall of said case.
