LIPSTICK HOLDER Filed April 6, 194
INVENTOR. AN THO/V v 6 E0534.
F /ZZZVm O ATTOENEK' Patented 'June 26, 1945 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE LIPSTICK HOLDER Anthony G. Rosa, Lyndhnrst, N. J. Application April 6, 1944, Serial No. 529,706
3 Claims.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in lipstick holders, and it has for its purpose to provide a device, whereby a lipstick may be securely screened, and, when the use of the same is desired, may automatically be made to adequately serve, by having said lipstick give 011 a sufiicient, finely squeezed, creamy amount from the top of the latter, by shaving said top of the lipstick through a special construction of the upper portion of the holder of the lipstick, as will be hereinafter fully described.
The construction of my device is further to the efiect that when said lipstick is not in use, a lid may be closed upon the latter, and thereby automatically discontinue the urgency, due to a spring arrangement, of the lipstick to move upward to a serving position, which urgency is again obtained automatically upon opening the lid of the holder or the lipstick previously to bringing the latter into use.
with the above and other objects in view, this invention consists of the novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts, hereinafter fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, iormmg part or this application, and in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all views, and in which:
Figure 1 m a vertical transverse sectional view of mydevice, having a lipstick arranged therein.
Figure 2 is a top plan view of the lipstick holder.
Figure 3 is a view similar to Figure 2, and showing a modification in construction of the top portion of said lipstick holder; while Figure 4 is also a transverse section of a lipstick holder, showing the means for arresting the upward motion of the lipstick proper, in operation, and showing a detachable cover.
Referring more particularly to the drawing, the numeral ll indicates a lipstick or the more conventional kind; said lipstick is inserted in a holder ll through the open bottom of the latter and is held in place by a member, or carriage, 12 adapted to slide within said holder. A cap member I3 is detachably mounted upon the lower part of theholder H and may be secured to the latter in any suitable manner, for instance by snap-fasteners. Inside said cap member I: is arranged a spring M, which acts upon the bottom 22 or the carriage l2 and through the latter urges the lipstick l steadily upward within the holder l I into serviceable position.
The holder II has an angular, or round, roofshaped top, as shown, respectively, at 15 and I8 intheFlauresaanda Thesaidroorisinboth cases formed with a plurality of slots, or slits, ll
therein to the effect that due to the pressure of the spring I, the top 18 of the lipstick proper will, upon coming into contact with said slits, give off afshave or creamy "flufiy mass, excellently adapted for the use by a lady in obtaining the result desired from applying a lipstick.
The lipstick holder is formed with an opening l9 oppositely disposed in each side thereof. A bar, or thin strip, or preferably resilient material, 20 is arranged oppositely upon each side inside the said holder and in alignment with the openings I9; said bars terminate at their upper ends in small projections, or studs, 2| protruding through the openings IS in the lipstick holder, as may be seen in Figure 1.
when the lipstick is not in use, a closure cap 23 is fastened upon the top of the holder to the eilect that said cap will exert an inward pressure upon the projections 2|, cause a squeeze of the bars 20 upon the lipstick proper, with the result of arresting the upward movement of the latter, as shown especially in Figure 4, thereby preventing any further automatic discharge of the lipstick material, when not in use. a
It is obvious that changes may be made in the form, construction and arrangement or the several parts. as shown, within the scope of the appended claims, without departing from the spirit of the invention, and I do not, therefore, wish to limit myself to the exact construction and arrangement shown and dwcribed herein.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent 01 the United States, is:
1. In a device of the class described, a cylindrical tube adapted to receive a lipstick therein, said tube having an open bottom, and being formed with slits in its top, a carriage slidable within said tube and supporting the lipstick proper, and a spring actuating said carriage, whereby to urge being formed with openings oppositely disposed in the wall thereof, bars oppositely arranged inside said tube and adapted to arrest the upward motion of the lipstick, said bars terminating in studs projecting through said openings, a cap for gages 1to dgngage tgxhleitgp of the tube and actuate u su s t a 1 set forth y as and for the purpose 2. In a device, as claimed in claim 1, and wheresaid tube has an ngular shape.
3. In a device, as claimed in claim 1, and wherein the roof of said tube has a round shape.
mom: a. ROSA.
and thereby, in turn,
