This invention relates to new and useful improvements in a combination toy.

More specically, the invention proposes the construction of a combination toy characterized 5.. by`4 the provision of a pair of horizontally spaced seats mounted between side members which are adapted to support a table top between the inner edges of the seats. v

Another, object of this invention is to provide the. sidemembers with curved bottom edges permitting the toy to be used as a rocker and which iscapable of having legs associated therewith to prevent the device from rocking when so desired.

The combination toy comprises a pair of horizontally spaced seats III of equal width and arranged in a common plane in alignment with each other. The seats I0 are substantially rectangular in shape and are formed from Wood or similar `material.

A seat back is hingedly mounted on the outer side of each seat and is adapted to pivot over the top of the seat. The seat backs are pivotally supported upon the rear edges of the seats Il! by means of hinges I2 and have a portion Ia extending downward along the back edge of the seats and adapted to strike there-against in the vertically extended position of the seat backs for limiting backward pivoting thereof. Thus these downwardly extended portions ||a act to limit the pivoting of the seat backs to a position in which they are positioned across the top face of the seats I0 or to a position in which they are extended vertically therefrom.

Side members I3 extend across each of the like ends of the seats IU andare hingedly mounted on theends.Y ofthe seats and are capable of pivoting-.under theseats. These side members I3 hold the seats I0 in spaced positions with relation to each other and are pivotally supported upon the ends of the seats by means of hinges I4.

The spacer strips are pivotally supported by means of hinges I6.` The hinges are arranged between the inner face of the side members I3` and the` spacer strip I5 so that the spacer strip will be capable of being pivoted upon the upper faceLof the side members` when the side members are located beneath the seats I0. Table leaves are hingedly mounted on ,each of the spacer. strips `and arein edge alignment with each other. The vtableleaves are hingedly supported upon the spacer strips vby means` of hinges I8. The hinges I8 are attached to the outer faces. of thespacer strips |5.sol that the spacer strips will be capable of engaging beneath the bottom face of the table leaves when the device is collapsed.-

Thismeans comprises channel shaped members |9 which are pivotally supported upon one of the table leavesbymeans of pins 2|! and which are adapted to extend across the ends of the leaves in the vicinity. of the adjacent sides thereof. 'I'his means comprises long bolts 23 which extend between the side members and which are adapted to have the sections 2 |a forming the front board 2| rest thereon.

As clearly shown in Figs. 1 and 4 the bottom edges I3a of the side members I3 are curved so as to act as rockers for permitting the device to be rocked in a manner similar to all rocking chairs. Thus when persons are sitting on the seats Iil they may rock the device by rocking themselves, which motion will be transmitted to the curved bottom edges I3a of the side members I3. Legs 24 are releasably attached to the back face of the seat backs I I and are adapted to engage against the ground upon which the device is resting for limiting the rocking of the device when so desired. These legs 24 may be removed when it is desired to rock the same.

As shown in Figs. 5 and 6 the table leaves I1 may be moved to a position in which they do not extend between the side members I3 and it is then possible to rest a mattress support 25 between the seats I0. This mattress support consists of a plurality of slats 25e which extend along the length of the device and which are held in spaced positions with relation to each other by longitudinally extending strips 25h. A mattress 26 is adapted to be positioned upon the mattress support 25 for permitting the device to be used as a bed if so desired.

While I have illustrated and described the preferred embodiments of myinvention, it is to be understood that I do not limit myself to the precise constructions herein disclosed and the right is reserved to all changes and modifications coming Within the scope of the invention Las dened in the appended claims.

A combination toy, comprising a pair of horizontally spaced seats of equal width and in a common plane and facing each other, a seat back hingedly mounted on the outer side of each seat and adapted to pivot over the top of the seat, a side member extending across each of the like ends of said seats and hingedly mounted on said ends to pivot under the seats, means for holding said side members spaced and at right angles to said seats, a spacer strip hingedly mounted at the center and on the top edge of each side member, a table leaf hingedly mounted on each spacer strip and adapted to be in edge alignment with each other, and releasable means for holding the table leaves in alignment, said spacer strips being pivotally supported on the top edge of side members and capable of pivoting upon said side members when said side members are pivoted below said seats.

A combination toy, comprising a pairl of horizontally spaced seats of equal width and in a common plane and facing each other, a seat back hingedly mounted on the outer side of each seat and adapted to pivot over the top of the seat, a side member extending across each of the like ends of said seats and hingedly mounted on said ends to pivot under the seats, means for holding said side members spaced and at right angles to said seats, a spacer strip hingedly mounted at the center and on the top edge of each side member, a table leaf hingedly mounted on each spacer strip and adapted to be in edge alignment with each other, and releasable means for holding the table leaves in alignment, said side members having their bottom edges curved so as to act as rockers, and means for limiting the rocking there-of when so desired.

A combination toy, comprising a pair of horizontally spaced seats of equal width and in a common plane and facing each other, a seat back hingedly mounted on the outer side of each seat and adapted to pivot over the top yof the seat, a side member extending across each of the like ends of said seats and hingedly mounted on said ends to pivot under the seats, means for holding said side members spaced and at right angles to said seats, a spacer strip hingedly mounted at the center and on the top edge of each side member, a table leaf hingedly mounted on each spacer strip and adapted to be in edge alignment with each other, and releasable means for holding the table leaves in alignment, said side members having their bottom edges curved so as to act as rockers, and means for limiting the rocking thereof when so desired, said means comprising legs releasably attached to the back faces of said seat backs and engageable with the ground.
