Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • The present invention relates to a smartphone holder that straps to a user's hand, enabling use and rotation of the device which being securely fastened to the palm.
  • 2. Description of Related Art
  • Handheld electronic devices are popular work, entertainment and design tools, enjoyed by many because of their simplicity of use and wide user appeal. Young and old are able to use the devices like smartphones, computer tablets, digital music players and the like because they are strategically designed to be intuitive and user friendly allowing almost anyone to use them. Smartphones are especially convenient in combining the utility of a telephone with the powerful processing of a computer, image capture and resolution of a camera, and quality sound output of a music player.
  • While these tools are fun and helpful, they can often be difficult to hold. Many people find that typing on the go and even picture taking is difficult, because of the narrow body and smooth exterior surface. A tight secure grip is needed to prevent dropping the delicate device. The sleek design and exterior surface of the smartphone typically requires that a case to allow for a better grip more secure. Most of the time, the case interferes with the sleekness of the device thereby defeating the purpose of a small compact design. Therefore it would be beneficial in the art to provide a smartphone holder that is secure yet non-bulky. It would also be desirable in the art to provide a smartphone holder that enables regular use, while still maintaining a secure grasp on the smartphone to prevent dropping during use.

  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • The present invention relates to a smartphone holder that straps to a user's hand, enabling use and rotation of the device which being securely fastened to the palm. The present invention provides a strapped electronic device holder to prevent smartphones from falling during use. The strapped electronic device holder consists of a clip with two grips that wrap on each side of the smartphone. The clip attaches to a strap that is then wrapped around a user's hand. The strap is adjustable to provide a tight yet comfortable fit for the user. With the strapped electronic device holder the user is afforded a convenient, flexible, and comfortable device that prevents slipping and dropping of their smartphone during operation.
  • Turning now descriptively to the drawings, referring to FIG. 1, a rear view of a strapped electronic device holder 100 is shown in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention. The strapped electronic device holder 100 includes a clip 102 with a pair of grips 104 a, 104 b at each end. The clip 102 extends horizontally across the backside of an electronic device 10, and the grips 104 a, 104 b extend to hug the sides of the device 10. As illustrated in FIG. 1(A) the grips 104 a, 104 b hug the sides of the electronic device 10 for a secure fit. The electronic device 10 may be a smartphone, computer tablet, music player or other commonly used handheld electronic device. The clip 102 and grips 104 a, 104 b may be covered with a rubber layer on the surface in contact with the electronic device 10 to prevent scratching and/or damage to the surface of the electronic device when inserted into the clip 102 and to provide greater friction on the exterior surface to better prevent slippage.
  • On a central portion of the clip 102 is a fastener 106. The fastener 106 includes a dial 108 with a lock 110. The dial 108 enables the clip 102 and therefore the electronic device 102 to turn and rotate. As will be explained in detail in reference to FIG. 2, the lock 110 secures the fastener 106 to a strap and ensures that the clip 102 remains in place. The lock 110 may be elongated and shaped like a strip to couple with the strip in the strap.
  • Referring now to FIG. 2, a top view of the strapped electronic device holder 100 is shown. The grips 104 a, 104 b are illustrated extending up from the clip 102 in a curved manner to tightly grab the electronic device 10. To enable attachment to a user's hand a strap 120 is used that wraps over the palm. The strap 120 may be elastic, rubber, leather, neoprene, vinyl, or a similar flexible fabric. The strap 120 may be adjustable at an adjustor 122 which allows for shortening and lengthening of the strap 120. The strap 120 is secured with a fastening means 124 once adjusted to the proper length. The fastening means 124 may be a hook and loop fastener, a snap, a clip, a hook or the like. Along the strap 120 is a slit 126. The slit 126 receives the lock 110, where once the lock 110 is through the slit 126 the lock 110 rotates to secure the clip 102 against the strap 120. Since the lock 110 is elongated it easily fits into the slit 126, but then upon rotation the slit 126 and the lock 110 crisscross to prevent the lock 110 from removal. The slit 126 may be reinforced to prevent ripping or widening of the slit 126 when attached to the clip 102.
  • Referring to FIG. 3 a perspective view of the strapped electronic device holder 100 is shown in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention. The strapped electronic device holder 100 fits comfortably around the user's hand 20. FIG. 3(A) illustrates how the strap 120 securely wraps around the palm 22.
