PICTURE FRAME SUPPORT Filed Oct. 29, 1932 INVENTOR MAE/ @2 44 000/ ATTORNEY Patented Jan. 16, 1934 UNITED STATES PICTURE FRAME SUPPORT Mary C. Gallucci, San Diego, Oalifi, assignor of one-half to Frank Magnetti, Los Angeles,
Calif.
Application October 29, 1932. Serial No. 640,218
2 Claims.
My invention relates to picture frame supports, and the objects of my invention are:
First, to provide a very simple support for picture frames which may be concealed entirely 5 behind the picture;
Second, to provide a support of this class with very simple means of adjusting the angular position of the picture frame relatively to the wall upon which it is hung;
Third, to provide a picture frame support of this class which is adaptable for various widths of picture frames;
Fourth, to provide a picture frame support which may be used in connection with a hook or a hook is incorporated as a part of the combination, as desired, so that the sup-port may be quickly detached from the supporting hook;
Fifth, to provide a support of this class in which the picture frame is readily balanced in its proper position so that the upper and lower sides readily assume horizontal positions; and
Sixth, to provide a very simple, economically constructed, easily operated and adjusted picture frame support which will not readily deteriorate or get out of order.
With these and other objects in view as will appear hereinafter, my invention consists of 'certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts and portions as will be hereinafter described in detail and particularly set forth in the appended claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the characters of reference thereon which form a part of this application, in which:
Figure 1 is a side elevational view of my support showing the picture supported thereon; Fig. 2 is a fragmentary portion of the connection between said support and picture frame showing the device adjusted for providing a greater tilt 40 or angle of the picture to the wall than that of Fig. 1; and Fig. 3 is a fragmentary front elevational view of the support alone.
Similar characters of reference refer to similar parts and portions throughout the several views of the drawing.
The supporting bars 1 and 2, screws 3, link member 4, hook member 5 and screw 6 constitute the principal parts and portions of my picture frame support.
The bars 1 and 2 are preferably metallic and are provided with holes at their opposite ends. These members 1 and 2 are secured; together at one end of the pair by means of a rivet 4a which secures the members 1 and 2 and 4 together so that they are held in certain relation to each other by frictional contact caused by the tightness of the rivet heads so that they maintain certain relation but will readily move to various angles relatively to each other. The picture frame is secured to the free ends of these members 1 and 2 by means of screws 3 which extend through the holes in the free ends and are screwed into the picture frame at opposite sides. It being noted that the ends of the members 1 and 2 extend past the screw a sufficient distance so that the ends rest against the frame and the angle of the picture relatively to the wall depends upon the depth the screw is screwed into the picture frame and the amount of play between the screw head and the frame.
In Fig. 1 the angle is slight, while in Fig. 2 the angle is considerably more because the screw 3 is notturned as far into the frame, thus providing for quick and simple adjustment of the angle of the picture frame to the wall. The link member 4 is provided with a slot 41) which is adapted to receive the hook end So of the hook 5 for supporting the members 1 and 2. This hook 5 is provided with a hole in its upper end which is adapted to receive the screw 6.
Though I have shown and described a particular construction, combination and arrangement of parts and portions, I do not wish to be limited to this particular construction, combination and arrangement but desire to include in the scope of my invention the construction, combination and arrangement substantially as set forth in. the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is: Y
1. In a picture frame support, a pair of bars pivotally connected together at one end of the pair and provided with holes in their opposite ends, a link member swivelly connected to the pivotally connected ends of said bars, means for adjustably connecting the extended ends of said bars to a picture frame at the opposite sides of said frame consistingof screws mounted in the extended ends of said bars and screwed into said frame at its opposite sides, and a hook secured rigidly against the wall with its hook portion extending outwardly adapted to receive said link member. v
2. In a picture frame support, a pair of bars pivotally and frictionally connected together in overlapped relation at one end of the pair and provided with holes in their opposite ends, a link member swivelly connected at one side to the pivotally and frictionally connected ends of said bars and a hook secured rigidly against the wall with its hook portion extending outwardly adapted to receive said link member.
