BRACKET.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 28, 1916.
Application filed June 2, 1914. Serial No. 842,447.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HERMAN ALTMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Brackets, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to new and useful improvements in display stands and resides in the provision of a simple and inexpensive device that is particularly designed to be arranged in connection with show or display windows and cases.
An object of importance is to provide a novel form of angular brackets that serve to secure the stand units to one another so that they are readily detachable and held against derangement.
Another ob ect of importance is' to provide a device of the character described that is of simple construction, reliable and eflicient in operation and is inexpensive to manufacture and install.
The above and additional objects are accomplished by such means as are illustrated in the accompanying drawings, described in the following specification and then more particularly pointed out as claimed.
With reference to the drawings, wherein I have illustrated the preferred embodiment of my invention as it is reduced to practice, and throughout the several views of which similar reference numerals designate corresponding parts: Figure l is a side elevationof my improved frame showing the same in assembled position with the shelves removed, and Fig. 2 is a detail perspective View of one of the angular brackets that is to be secured to the stand and wall to support the same.
Referring to the drawings by characters of reference, the numeral 1 designates as an entirety a skeleton'step like frame that consists of vertical rectangular plates or bars 2 and 3 and horizontal similar bars 4: and 5. The bar 41 is arranged in connection with the upper end of the bar 2 and lower end of.
the bar 3, while the bar 5 is secured to the upper end of the vertical bar 3 and at its other end is designed to be secured to the wall of a show case, window or the like.
To connect the forward ends of the bars 4 and 5 with the upper ends of the'bars 2 and 3, I provide approximately L-shaped brackets designated 6 as an entirety. Each bracket consists of four apertured arms arranged in pairs and constituting the vertical and horizontal portions of the L-shaped brackets. Screws 8 are inserted through the apertures in the arms 6 and bars 2 and 3. Nuts 9 are turned upon the screws.
At the rear end of the bar 5 and at the point where the rear end of the bar 4 connects with the one 3, I provide angular. brackets designated 10 that are similar to the ones 6 and consist of pairs of apertured arms 11 that extend at right angles to one another and a downwardly extending or depending flange 12 that is provided with a vertical slot 13 to receive suitable fastening means. The flanges 12 are arranged on cer- V tain sides of the brackets 10 and engage the side walls of the casing or display window so that the stand may be supported. The vertical arms 11 of the bracket 10 that is arranged at the rear end of the bar 5 is connected with a bracket 14 by means of-fastoning means 15 that are similar to the ones 8 and 9. The bracket 14 is similar to the one 6 and is to be secured to the rear wall of a display stand or window by suitable fastening means 16. A supporting stand or column 17 having an enlarged head portion 18 and a suitable base 19 is secured to the floor or bottom wall of a window or display stand and to the under face of the horizontal bar 5 This column 17 serves to support the frame in an even and reliable manner.
The slots 13 in the flanges 12 open at the lower ends of the flanges and suitable fastening means, not shown, are to be received within the slots, to secure the flanges to the side walls of the show case or window.
What is claimed is A bracket consisting of a pair of anguintermediate the ends thereof.
larly disposed members having slots formed therein, and a depending bifurcated flange Copies of this patent may be obtained for five cents each, by addressing the Commissioner of Patents, Washington, D. 0.
