제1도는 본 발명에 따른 한실시예의 액정표시소자에 있어서 배열방향, 편광판의 흡수축 방향 및 광학지연판의 광축방향의관계를 나타낸 도면.
제4도는 본 발명에 따른 액정표시소자의 투과율의 파장의존성을 나타낸 도면.
제6도는 종래예의 액정 표시소자의 작용을 설명한 설명도.
제7도는 비교예의 액정표시소자의 투과율의 파장 의존성을 나타낸 도면이다.

Claims (2)

  1. 각각 대향면에 전극이 형성되어 있고 서로 대향하도록 설치된 제1, 제2의 기판(1)(1') 및 제1의 기판과 제2의 기판과의 사이에 트위스트하도록 배열된 액정조성물로 구성된 액정셀(5)과, 액정셀의 양측에 배치된 제1, 제2의 편광판(3)(4)을 가지고 있는 액정표시장치에 있어서, 제2의 기판(1')과 제2의 편광판(4)과의 사이에 2매의 광학지연판(10), (11)이 배치되어 있으며, 상기 액정셀의 리터데이션을 R0(△nㆍdㆍcos2θ 단 d는 제1의 기판과 제2의 기판의 간격을 나타내고 θ는 액정조성물의 경사각을 나타내고 △n은 액정조성물의 보굴절율을 나타낸다)으로 했을때 상기 2매의 광학지연판이 리터데이션의 합계가 R0x 0.8 내지 R0x 1.2의 범위인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
  2. 각각 대향면에 전극이 형성되어 있고 서로 대향하도록 설치된 제1, 제2의 기판(1)(1') 및 제1의 기판과 제2의 기판과의 사이에 트위스트하도록 배열된 액정조성물로 구성된 액정셀(5)과, 액정셀의 양측에 배치된 제1, 제2의 편광판(3)(4)을 가지고 있는 액정표시장치에 있어서, 제2의 기판(1')과 제2의 편광판(4)과의 사이에 제2의 기판쪽으로부터 보아서 제1, 제2의 광학지연판(10)(11)이 배치되어 있고 상기 제1과 제2의 광학지연판은 거의 동일한 리터데이션을 가지며, 이 리터데이션이 0.25 내지 0.45㎛의 범위인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
