Claims (20)
- 전력 수신 장치(powered device; PD)의 전류를 측정하기 위한 전류 측정 시스템;상기 전력 수신 장치의 전압을 측정하기 위한 전압 측정 시스템;상기 전류 측정 시스템의 온도를 측정하기 위한 온도 측정 시스템; 및상기 전류 측정 시스템, 상기 전압 측정 시스템 및 상기 온도 측정 시스템에 결합된 멀티플렉서를 포함하며,상기 전류 측정 시스템, 상기 전압 측정 시스템 및 상기 온도 측정 시스템 각각의 출력은 시분할 다중화 방식에 의하여 하나의 데이터 스트림으로 상기 멀티플렉서에 제공되는 것을 특성으로 하는 전력원 장치(PSE) 컨트롤러.
- 청구항 1에 있어서, 상기 전류 측정 시스템은 상기 전력 수신 장치의 전류를 복제하는 전류 미러에 결합된 센스 트랜지스터를 이용하는 것을 특성으로 하는 전력원 장치 컨트롤러.
- 청구항 2에 있어서, 상기 전류 측정 시스템은 상기 전력 수신 장치의 복제 전류를 측정하여 전력 수신 장치의 전류를 결정하는 것을 특성으로 하는 전력원 장치 컨트롤러.
- 청구항 1에 있어서, 상기 전압 측정 시스템은 상기 전력 수신 장치의 전압을 싱글엔디드 신호로 변환하는 버퍼 증폭기를 포함하는 것을 특성으로 하는 전력원 장치 컨트롤러.
- 청구항 1에 있어서, 상기 온도 측정 시스템은 상기 전류 측정 시스템 내에 이용되는 트랜지스터의 접합부의 온도를 측정하는 것을 특성으로 하는 전력원 장치 컨트롤러.
- 전력 수신 장치(powered device; PD)의 전류를 측정할 수 있도록, 전압 측정 시스템에 연결된 전류 감지 디지털 아날로그 변환기(IDAC);상기 전력 수신 장치의 전압을 측정할 수 있도록 전류 측정 시스템에 결합된 등급 분류 모듈(classification module);상기 전류 측정 시스템 및 상기 전압 측정 시스템에 연결되어, 상기 전류 측정 시스템 및 상기 전압 측정 시스템 각각의 출력이 시분할 다중화 방식에 의하여 하나의 데이터 스트림으로 제공되는 멀티플렉서; 및상기 멀티플렉서에 연결되어 상기 멀티플렉서의 출력을 아날로그에서 디지털로 변환하는 아날로그 디지털 변환기를 포함하는 전력원 장치 컨트롤러.
- 청구항 6에 있어서, 상기 전압 측정 시스템은 상기 전력 수신 장치의 특성 저항(signature resistance) 및 특성 커패시턴스(signature capacitance)를 측정하는 데에 상기 디지털 아날로그 변환기의 출력을 이용하는 것을 특성으로 하는 전력원 장치 컨트롤러.
- 청구항 7에 있어서, 상기 전력 수신 장치의 특성 저항 및 특성 커패시턴스를 바탕으로 유효한 전력 특성(valid power signature)을 결정하는 마이크로컨트롤러 코어를 더 포함하는 것을 특성으로 하는 전력원 장치 컨트롤러.
- 전력원 장치(PSE) 컨트롤러에 연결된 전력 수신 장치(powered device; PD)를 감지하고 등급 분류(classify)하는 방법에 있어서,상기 전력 수신 장치에 전류를 인가하는 단계;전압 측정치를 생성할 수 있도록 상기 전류를 기초로 하여 상기 전력 수신 장치의 전압을 측정하는 단계;상기 전압 측정치를 시분할 다중화된 데이터 스트림 내의 제1 시간 슬롯 내에 포맷팅하는 단계;상기 전압 측정치에 기초하여 상기 전력 수신 장치의 장치 특성(device signature)을 결정하는 단계;상기 전력 수신 장치에 전압을 인가하는 단계;전류 측정치를 생성할 수 있도록 상기 전압을 기초로 하여 상기 전력 수신 장치의 전류를 측정하는 단계;상기 전류 측정치를 상기 시분할 다중화된 데이터 스트림 내의 제2 시간 슬롯 내에 포맷팅하는 단계; 및상기 전류 측정치에 기초하여 상기 전력 수신 장치의 전력 등급 분류 특성(power classification signature)을 결정하는 단계를 포함하는 전력 수신 장치의 감지 및 등급 분류 방법.
- 청구항 9에 있어서, 상기 전력 수신 장치의 전력 등급 분류 특성을 결정하는 단계는상기 분류 전류에 기초하여 상기 전력 수신 장치에 대해 상응하는 등급 코드(class code)를 할당하는 단계를 더 포함하는 것을 특성으로 하는 전력 수신 장치의 감지 및 등급 분류 방법.
