Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration of a recording liquid, suppress variations in physical properties of the liquid and obtain stable jetting characteristics, by using a water-based ink as the recording liquid, in an ink jet recorder wherein a liquid not used for recording generates a bubble when being heated, with the result of a volume change by which the recording liquid is moved, and is ejected. CONSTITUTION:A water-based ink is used as a recording liquid 9. In this case, water is used as a solvent component for a dye, and a mixture of a water-soluble organic solvent with wager may also be used for setting the physical properties of the ink to desired values, preventing the ink from drying and for enhancing the solubility of the dye. A liquid incompatible with the water-based ink and having a boiling point lower than that of water is used as a bubble-generating liquid 10. The recording liquid 9 and the bubble-generating liquid 10 are supplied respectively through a recording liquid inlet port 6 and a bubble-generating liquid inlet port 7, and are present in a double-layer structure without mutual dissolution. A bubble-generating part 8 generates a bubble 11, which is instantaneously generated in the liquid 10 by boiling to make the liquid 10 protuberant. The increase in the volume of the liquid 10 in a bubble- generating liquid passage 5 pushes the recording liquid 9 in a recording liquid passage 3 toward an ejecting port 1, whereby a recording liquid droplet 12 is ejected.
