Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration of a recording liquid, suppress variations in physical properties of the liquid and obtain stable jetting characteristics, by a construction wherein the recording liquid and a liquid incompatible with the recording liquid and not used for recording are present in a liquid chamber, and the liquid not used for recording generates a bubble when being heated, with the result of a volume change by which the recording liquid is moved. CONSTITUTION:An oil-based ink, for example, is used as a recording liquid 9, whereas a liquid incompatible with the oil-based ink, for example, water or an aqueous solution containing a preservative or the like therein is used as a bubble-generating liquid 10. The recording liquid 9 and the bubble- generating liquid 10 are present in a double-layer structure A bubble-generating part 8 is heated by a heat generating resistor 13 through the outer wall of a bubble-generating liquid passage 5 to generate a bubble 11. The bubble 11 is instantaneously generated in the liquid by boiling, and makes the liquid 10 protuberant as indicated at 10'. The substantial increase in the volume of the liquid 10 in the passage 5 pushes the recording liquid 9 in a recording liquid passage 3 toward an ejecting port 1, whereby a recording liquid droplet 12 is ejected.
