Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the amt. of S in electrodeposited Cu without increasing a man-hour and to produce high purity copper by using an aq. soln. contg. copper nitrate and sulfuric acid as essential components as an electrolytic soln. CONSTITUTION:High purity refined copper nitrate [Cu(NO3)2.3H2O] is dissolved in pure water by 1.5mol./l, a prescribed amt. of sulfuric acid is added and the resulting aq. soln. is used as an electrolytic soln. Oxygen-free copper of 99.996% purity as the anode is put in the electrolytic soln. and electrolytic refining is carried out at 25 deg.C and 3.4A/dm<2> cathode current density to deposit refined copper on the cathode. By this method, high purity copper having a high residual resistance ratio (RRR) is obtd. The pref. concn. of sulfuric acid in the electrolytic soln. is 0.2-30g/l.
