Abstract

1465232 Electrowinning copper KENNECOTT COPPER CORP 21 Feb 1975 [27 Feb 1974] 7295/75 Heading C7B Cu is electrowon from an aqueous H 2 SO 4 (e.g. 10 to 300 g/1) electrolyte containing dissolved Cu values (e.g. 0À5 to 60 g/1) using anodes of Pb alloy containing 0À025 to 0À10% Ca. The cathodes may be of stainless steel, Ti or electro-deposited Cu. A comparison Pb alloy anode is specified containing 5% Sb or 10% Sb and 0À4% As. A current density of 5 to 40 A.S.F. may be maintained. The electrolyte may be obtained from multi-step, leachsolvent, ammoniacal, extraction processes from Cu scrap and/or cement Cu.
