Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtian a high-S/N moire free optical disk by forming even pits by coating the recordng layer of the optical disk with a shaped hard film, which never fuses when holes are made in the recording layer, within a specific thickness range. CONSTITUTION:On a transparent substrate 1 of glass, plastic, etc., a recording layer 2 of metal, such as Te, or organic coloring matter is formed and on the layer 2, a shaped film 3 having tens - thousands Angstrom thickness is formed by using SiO, SiO2, ZnO, thermosetting resin, etc. In a thus obtained optical disk, pits 4 in the layer 2 are formed with a laser beam, and consequently irradiated parts of the layer 2 fuse to form projection parts 5 having swelling circumferences by surface tension, so that the film has swelling parts 6. The hard film 3, however, suppresses the formation of those projection parts 5, so the size of each pit 4 is made uniform.
