Abstract

PURPOSE:To ensure an application of a change of the absorbing band due to irradiation of the laser beam to a recording layer formed with irradiation of the laser beam, by providing an information recording layer consisting mainly of Se and containing Cu, Cd, In, Te, Bi or Sb onto a substrate. CONSTITUTION:A substrate 18 is made of a glass plate, an acrylic resin plate, etc. having the light-transmittable properties to the read-out light. An information recording layer 19 is formed on the substrate 18. The layer 19 is composed of Se of >=50atom% and Se plus one kind or more of other metals Cu, Cd, In, Te, Bi and Sb. The information is recorded on the layer 19 with irradiation of laser beam. In this case, a >=20% change of transmission factor is secured for the layer 19 by the irradiation of laser beam and with a prescribed wavelength, and the optical information obtained by the change of transmissivity is recorded. The change of transmissivity may be caused by the fact that the calcogenite glass is grown by the irradiation of laser beam.
