Abstract
PURPOSE: To produce titled Rh plated articles having specular gloss, and superior adhesive strength, corrosion resistance and hardness by applying plating on the surfaces of the articles to be treated by an ordinary acidic Rh plating bath added with an aromatic sulfonic acid (salt).
CONSTITUTION: An acidic Rh plating bath consisting of an Rh salt added with an aromatic sulfonic acid (salt) and free acids is used in applying plating treatment on the surfaces of decorative articles, particularly, spectacles, watched, personal ormaments, dinner ware, etc. Ordinary, for example, sulfates phosphates, etc. are employed for the Rh salt used for this plating bath, and the concn. thereof is set at customary 0.1W20g/l. Acids such as sulfuric acids, phosphoric acids and the like are used as the free acids. Further, for example, a benzene sulfonic acid is used for the aromatic sulfonic acid as the additive. Further, said plating bath is used at ≤6pH. The black or blue Rh plated articles are obtained by this plating treatment.
