Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent any increase in the internal resistance of a silver oxide battery by subjecting a positive electrode body, which consists of a silver oxide layer, and an argentous oxide layer and a silver layer that are formed over the periphery of the silver oxide layer by reduction, to a water-repellent treatment so as to make up to the silver oxide layer to be impregnated with a water repellent, and removing the water repellent contained in both the argentous oxide layer and the silver layer. CONSTITUTION:A positive electrode body 1, which is prepared by forming an argentous oxide layer 3 and a silver layer 4, in that order, over the periphery of a silver oxide layer 2, is immersed in a liquid containing a water repellent so as to make up to the silver oxide layer 2 to be impregnated with the water repellent through vacuum impregnation. After that, thus impregnated body 1 is dried and immersed in a water-repellent eluting solution so as to made the water repellent contained in the layers 3 and 4 to be eluted and removed, and the body 1 is placed in a positive can 5. Styrene, silicone oil, fluorine-system high molecular compound or the like is preferred as the water repellent, while benzene, toluene, stearyl alcohol, carbon tetrachloride or the like is used as the water-repellent removing agent. Owing to the above constitution, disappearance of the silver layer 4 caused by reoxidation is suppressed since electrolyte is restricted to touch and diffuse into the silver oxide layer 2. Consequently, any increase in the internal resistance caused during the preservation can be prevented.
