Abstract

PURPOSE:To set the hydrogen utility rate of a fuel cell to the optimum value, by controlling the auxiliary fuel-regulating-valve provided on an auxiliary fuel-feeding-path according to the temperature of the outlet of a reformer. CONSTITUTION:An auxiliary fuel-feeding-path for a burner is so arranged as feeding material gas through an auxiliary fuel-regulating-valve V7 to the burner. The outlet temperature of the reformer is inputted into the regulator of this valve as a set value. A burner fuel-regulating-valve V6 and the burner auxiliary fuel-regulating-valve V7 are controlled in connection with each other so that exhaust gas from the fuel cell is consumed preferentially. Consequently, usually the valve 6 is nearly full open under load, while the valve V7 is controlled according to the outlet temperature of the reformer. Only when the temperature of the reformer is still too high even if the auxiliary fuel is forced to be 0 (zero), and when the necessity of sudden decreasing the burner fuel happens, the burner-fuel-regulating-valve V6 is opened.
