Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform cooling efficiently without giving adverse influence upon a metallic strip by sticking hot water to the metallic strip of high temp. to cool the same slowly then sticking cooling water of successively lower temps. thereby cooling the same. CONSTITUTION:Plural pieces of spray pipes 2a, 2b are disposed opposite to the top and bottom surfaces of a metallic strip S on the outlet side of a heating zone 1. Hot water of about 70-80 deg.C is supplied through a hot water supply pipe 3a to respective spray pipes 2a in the first half part to spray the hot water directly to the strip S of about 250 deg.C right after it emerges from the zone 1. A water supply pipe 3b is connected to the spray pipes 2b in the second half part to supply cold water of ordinary temp. and to spray the cold water to the strip S. Thereby, the strip S of about 250 deg.C is cooled to about 160 deg.C in the first half, and further it is cooled to about 40 deg.C in the second half.
