Abstract
PURPOSE: Titled coating composition which forms films having excellent anti-fogging properties and abrasion resistance, comprising a hydrolyzate of an organoalkoxysilane, a polyhydric alcohol having ethylene oxide chains and a curing catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: The coating agent of the purpose is obtained by mixing (a) a hydrolyzate of an organoalkoxysilane represented by formula I, II, III or IV, wherein R1 is a 2W6C alkylene, R2 is a 2W4C alkylene, R3 is a 1W4C alkyl and R4 is OR3 or a 1W3C alkyl, with (b) a polyhydric alcohol having ethylene oxide chains, represented by formula V, wherein n1Wnm are each 0W7 and at least two of them are each equal to or greater than 1, and m is 3W9, and (c) a curing catalyst such as trichloacetic acid or periodic acid, so that the component (a) is present in an amount of 20W80wt% and the component (c) is present in an amount of 0.01W 10wt% based on the total of the components (a) and (b).
