Abstract
PURPOSE: To perform welding of good efficiency by providing a flat nozzle having a nozzle hole at the torch end, and providing a cooling mechanism centering at an electrode to this flat nozzle thereby cooling the nozzle end part.
CONSTITUTION: An electrode 8 is fixed to an electrode holder 9, and a cooling water passage 11 is provided. A flat nozzle 12 of a flat cross section is fixed by means of a ring 14 to a torch body 13, and is insulated from the electrode holder 9 by means of an insulation sleeve 15. A shielding cap 16 is fixed to the torch body 13 to form a shielding gas passage 18 with the flat nozzle 12. A plasma gas passage 19 is provided on the inner side of the flat nozzle, with the electrode 8 in-between and is communicated with a nozzle hole 20. Cooling water passages 21 are provided on both sides of the outer side of the plasma passage 19 centering at the electrode 8, and are communicated by means of a communicating passage 22 provided around the nozzle hole 20 at the nozzle end, thence cooling water 29 is flowed in the arrow direction. This makes it possible to form the torch into a thin type permitting its insertion into the groove, perform water cooling of its end part and withstand the load of high current.
