Abstract

PURPOSE: To make airtightness inspection simple by using a pull rod and push rod assembled with an annualr rubber packing.
CONSTITUTION: A push rod 11 and pull rod 13 of which the opening faces are formed into tapered faces open to the outside and grasp an annular rubber packing 12 therebetween in contact with said tapered faces are prepared. The push rod 11 and pull rod 13 are then inserted into a plastic pipe 10 whose end is then closed with a stationary flange 5; said stationary flange 5 is locked by means of bolts 6 to the loose flange 7 fitted to the outside of a collared adapter 8, after which the pull rod 13 is retreated and tightened with respect to the push rod 11, whereby the annualr rubber packing 12 is pressed airtight to the pipe inside. A gas 2 is led into the airtight space by opening a valve 2. As a result, the airtightness of the terminal connecting part is easily accurately inspected by detecting the pressure change of the gas or its leakage to the outside.
