Abstract

PURPOSE: To ensure an accurate reading even through the slip itself may have some expansion and contraction and at the same time realize a small-size constitution and a low cost, by setting the reading region via the mark which is printed previously at the fixed position on the slip and with a fixed pitch.

CONSTITUTION: The starting end 21 of the slip 2 reaching the mark detecting means 1 is detected 11, and this detection signal is applied to the length measurement counter 3. Thus the counter 3 is reset. Furthermore, the detection signal is applied to the format memory circuit 4, and the circuit 4 delivers the coordinate code corresponding to "A". On the other hand, the mark detecting circuit 12 delivers the detection signal every time the mark 23 is detected. And the detection signals are counted 3. At the reading region setting circuit 5, the output code of the counter 3 is compared 51 with the coordinate code corresponding to "A". And the coincidence signal is sent to the FF52 and the circuit 4, and thus the FF52 is set to produce the reading subject region signal (e). At the same time, the next coordinate code, i.e., the coordinate code corresponding to "B" is delivered from the circuit 4.
