Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate need for providing a piston rod with a gas introducing groove and improve the strength of a piston rod, by forming the gas introducing groove on a circumferential surface of a stopper adapted to restrict the movement of a piston over the predetermined sistance, and filling a gas into a cylinder through the groove. CONSTITUTION:An annular stopper 8, adapted to restrict the movement of a piston 2 beyond a predetermined extent in an extention direction between the piston 2 and a sealing packing 5, formed on a circumferential surface of a cylinder 1, and a gas introducing groove 9 is provided on the inner circumferential surface of the stopper 8. The stopper 8 and gas introducing groove 9 are simultaneously formed by applying a calking force to the outer circumferential surface of the cylinder 1 e.g. from 3 directions. At the time of gas filling operation, a gas filler 10 is connected to the side end portion of the cylinder 1, a rod guide 4 is pressed rightwardly by a cylindrical press member 11 so that a gas introducing passage 12 is formed by pushing the the sealing paching 5 into the stopper 8, then gas filling operation is performed in this state.
