Abstract

PURPOSE: To make expansion or contraction of the picture possible in case that picture information is processed in the form of the electric signal, by sampling the picture signal by the clock signal or selecting plural image forming means in respect to the main scanning direction of the picture, and by sampling the picture signal by clocks or changing the interval of subscanning in respect to the subscanning direction.
CONSTITUTION: The picture of original M is transduced to an electric signal by CCD5 and is supplied to signal processing circuit 7. In signal processing circuit 7, sampling pulses of frequency (mf) are used to sample the picture signal of frequency (f), or plural ion modulation electrodes corresponding to expansion rates and contraction rates are prepared and the described ion modulation electrodes are selected in accordance with the magnification selecting signal in respect to the main scanning direction, and the interval of subscanning is changed in respect to the subscanning direction, and thus, the signal processing for expansion or contraction is performed. The processed electric signal is supplied to ion modulation electrode driving circuit 8, and an electrostatic latent image is formed on the dielectric of rotary drum 12 and is transferred to recording paper P.
