Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a modifier of citrus fruits controlling the amount of sugar and metabolism of organic acids in fruits, containing a specific compound comprising partly a novel compound as an effective component, without damaging the trees and giving bad effects on the fruit color.
CONSTITUTION: A modifier of citrus fruits containing the compound of formula R- X-Y[R is a lower or alicyclic alkyl, etc,; X is -COO-, -SCO, -NHCO-, or -SO2-; Y is formula I or II (R1 is OH, lower alkoxy, etc.), however, the compound except those of formula III, IV or V and when X is -SCO-, is a novel one] as an effective component. This modifier may increase or decrease the amount of organic acids in the fruits, improve fruits without damaging the trees and giving bad effects on the fruit color, and control the shipment easily.
