Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve recording reproducing characteristics by recording and reproducing signals by a recording-only head and reproduction-only head respectively, and also by making it possible to exchange selectively both the heads at the same position. CONSTITUTION:As head moving mechanisms, tape intra-surface movement, rotational movement and tape-thickness movement are considered. As for a VTR track- width moving mechanism as the tape intra-surface moving mechanism, recording- only sound head 1 and recording-only control head 3 operate in recording operation to record signals on tape 5 and reproduction-only sound head 2 and reproduction- only control head 4 never operate. In reproduction operation, heads move upward. Then, sound head 2 and control head 4 operate and recording sound head 1 and control head 3 do not operate. In this way, the best recording and reproduction can be performed by two heads.
