Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve thermal efficiency of a plant consisting of a kiln for baking quick lime or the like and a means for cooling baked cakes, by employing an arrangement which is capable of recovering heat radiated form the outer surface of the the kiln and also capable of eliminating leakage of air into the kiln hood.
CONSTITUTION: Cakes baked in rotary kiln 1 are carried through throat 2 to means 3 for recovering heat of baked cakes, where heat of the baked cakes is cooled through heat exchange with air supplied by cooling-air blowing fan 4, and then they are discharged to the outside from outlet port 5. Air, whose temperature is thus raised through heat exchange with baked cakes, is passed through cyclone 7 and a primary fan 8 and utilized as primary air for kiln burner 9. In an apparatus arranged as above, air for cooling baked cades is taken out from outlet port 12, after its temperature is raised by a heat exchanger 11 including an outer sleeve 17 disposed on the outside of kiln 1 and guide vanes 16 formed on the inside of the outer sleeve 17 for constituting a helical air passage, and then supplied to the above heat recovering means 3 by fan 4.
