Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the removal rate of NOX in primary and secondary treatments and remove BOD and NOX of high concentration waste water efficiently at a high degree by such things as returning the sludge having been activated in a re- aerating tank to the activated sludge treating tank of secondary treatment from the final precipitating tank.
CONSTITUTION: Concentrated waste water is directly subjected to primary treatment in a photosynthesizing bacteria treating tank and is then subjected to secondary treatment in an activated sludge treating tank. This treated water is transferred into an intermediate precipitating tank to extract excess sludge. The supernatant water is passed through the nitration tank, denitrification tank, re-aerating tank and final precipitating tank, these being the tertiary treatment, after which it is discharged. The sludge which has been activated to have better adsorptivity in the re-aerating tank of the tertiary treatment is returned to the activated sludge treating tank of the secondary treatment. This activated sludge treating tank is so set as to allow for stagnation of 4 to 48 hours. Part of the intank liquid of the denitrification tank, re-aerating tank and final precipitating tank is returned to the nitration tank to control the pH of the liquid in the nitiration tank to 6.2 to 9.2.
