Abstract

PURPOSE: To decrease the concentration of base metal components in beads, considerably decrease thin plate lining material and firmly weld the thin plate lining material to base metal by making welding down to base plate in the first pass, melting only the lining material in the second pass and making the molten sectional area of the lining material and base metal to the specified one.
CONSTITUTION: The electron beam of the first pass is radiated from the side of the lining material to form slender beads down to the plate thickness base metal and only the lining material is melted by the radiation of the second pass to expand the bead widths, whereby welding to satisfy S3/S1≥8 where the molten sectional area of the base metal of the first pass is let S1 and the molten sectional area of the lining material of the second pass S3 is accomplished. In the first pass, it is better if the depth of penetration of the beads 7 into the base metal 2 is as shallow as possible.
