Abstract

PURPOSE:To make possible dense coupling with good directivity by providing an air layer and a coupling auxiliary conductor between dielectric substate and earth conductor in the directional coupler formed with main lines and coupling lines on one surface of the dielectric substrate and the earth conductor on the other surface. CONSTITUTION:Internal conductors which become main lenes 2 and coupling lines 3 are formed on one surface of a dielectric substrate 1 and an earth conductor 4 is formed via air layer 7 on the other surface. Further, a coupling auxiliary conductor 6 is provided at the boundary face of the dielectric substrate and air layer 7 under the coupling line part 7. Then, the coupling auxiliary conductor 6 mainly acts on the odd modes of the coupling line 3 and the air layer 7 acts mainly on the even modes of the coupling lines 3. Then, if the size of the coupling auxiliray conductor 6 and the thickness, etc. of the air layer 7 are suitably selected, the directional coupler of good directivity and large degrees of coupling may be realized.
