Description
また、シリンダに近い位置に触媒を配置することにより、エンジンからの排気ガスを、副排気通路から高温の状態で触媒に導くことができる。
また、巻回された上流側排気通路と触媒が側面視で重なるので、排気系をコンパクトに形成できる。

Claims (4)
- 排気管(23)と、該排気管(23)途中に設けられ、排気ガスを浄化する触媒(36)と、該触媒(36)とエンジン(3)との間の前記排気管(23)の上流側排気通路(33)に設けられ該上流側排気通路(33)を開閉する排気バルブ(40)と、該排気バルブ(40)をバイパスするように前記上流側排気通路(33)に接続される、該上流側排気通路(33)よりも通路断面積の小さい副排気通路(45)と、を備えるエンジンの排気浄化装置であって、
前記副排気通路(45)は、その入口が前記エンジン(3)の排気口(21A)近傍に接続されると共に、その出口が前記触媒(36)の近傍に接続され、前記上流側排気通路(33)に対し通路長さを短く形成され、
前記エンジン(3)は、そのシリンダ(17)を車両の前方に向けて配置され、前記触媒(36)が前記シリンダ(17)の下方に配置され、
前記上流側排気通路(33)は、前記排気口(21A)に接続される基端部(33A)から下方に延びた後、後方、上方及び前方の順に湾曲し、前記エンジン(3)の側面視で前記基端部(33A)と重なる位置に至り、さらに後方に湾曲して前記触媒(36)に接続されるように、前記シリンダ(17)の下方で巻回され、前記エンジン(3)の側面視で前記触媒(36)と重なることを特徴とするエンジンの排気浄化装置。 - 前記エンジン(3)の側面視で、前記シリンダ(17)の軸線と前記触媒(36)の中心軸線とが略平行であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のエンジンの排気浄化装置。
- 前記エンジン(3)は、そのシリンダ(17)を車両の前方に向けて配置され、前記排気バルブ(40)を駆動するアクチュエータ(43)が、前記シリンダ(17)の上方に配置され、
前記排気バルブ(40)が、前記シリンダ(17)の下方に位置する前記上流側排気通路(33)に設けられることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載のエンジンの排気浄化装置。 - 前記副排気通路(45)は、前記上流側排気通路(33)よりも小径に形成されることを特徴とする請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載のエンジンの排気浄化装置。
