Description
有機感光体に用いる電荷輸送剤には、感度をはじめとする感光体としての電気特性を満足する上に、光やオゾン、電気的負荷に耐える化学的安定性と繰り返し使用や長期使用によっても感度が低下しない安定性や耐久性が要求される。更に有機感光体を製造する際には、溶剤に対する高く安定した溶解性が必要である。しかし、優れた溶解性を有し、安定性や耐久性に優れ、満足のいくような化合物は見出されていない。
4−メチルジフェニルアミン16.86g(92mmol)、ジフェニルアミン3.89g(23mmol)、4,4”−ジヨード−p−ターフェニル24.1g(50mmol)、無水炭酸カリウム17.25g(125mmol)、銅粉0.32g(5mmol)、亜硫酸水素ナトリウム0.52g(5mmol)、スルホラン10mlを混合し、窒素ガスを導入しながら220〜225℃まで加熱し6時間撹拌した。反応終了後、キシレン90mlおよびトルエン150mlで反応生成物を抽出し、不溶分をろ別除去した後、ろ液を濃縮乾固した。得られた固形物をカラムクロマトグラフィー(担体;シリカゲル、溶離液;トルエン:ヘキサン=1:4)によって精製し、4,4’−ビス(4−メチルジフェニルアミノ)−p−ターフェニル(化合物No.1)、4−(4−メチルジフェニルアミノ)−4’−ジフェニルアミノ−p−ターフェニル(化合物No.18)および4,4’−ビス(ジフェニルアミノ)−p−ターフェニル(化合物No.9)からなるp−ターフェニル化合物混合物を化合物No.1:化合物No.18:化合物No.9=65.8:30.5:3.4(高速液体クロマトグラフィーによるピーク面積比)の混合比で25.78g(収率;87.8%、融点;157.2〜159.2℃)得た。
単一合成したものの同定は元素分析によって行い、それぞれ目的物であることを確認した。元素分析値は以下の通りである。化合物No.1;炭素:89.13%(89.15%)、水素:6.15%(6.12%)、窒素:4.72%(4.73%)、化合物No.18;炭素:89.15%(89.24%)、水素:5.98%(5.92%)、窒素:4.87%(4.84%)、化合物No.9;炭素:89.24%(89.33%)、水素:5.76%(5.71%)、窒素:5.00%(4.96%)(計算値をかっこ内に示す。)。図8に合成実施例1で作製した化合物No.1、No.18およびNo.9からなるp−ターフェニル化合物混合物のIRスペクトルを示す。

4−メチルジフェニルアミン16.86g(92mmol)、4,4’−ジメチルジフェニルアミン4.53g(23mmol)、4,4”−ジヨード−p−ターフェニル24.1g(50mmol)、無水炭酸カリウム17.25g(125mmol)、銅粉0.32g(5mmol)、亜硫酸水素ナトリウム0.52g(5mmol)、スルホラン10mlを混合し、窒素ガスを導入しながら220〜225℃まで加熱し6時間撹拌した。反応終了後、キシレン90mlおよびトルエン150mlで反応生成物を抽出し、不溶分をろ別除去した後、ろ液を濃縮乾固した。得られた固形物をカラムクロマトグラフィー(担体;シリカゲル、溶離液;トルエン:ヘキサン=1:4)によって精製し、4,4’−ビス(4−メチルジフェニルアミノ)−p−ターフェニル(化合物No.1)、4−(4−メチルジフェニルアミノ)−4’−(4,4’−ジメチルジフェニルアミノ)−p−ターフェニル(化合物No.19)および4,4’−ビス(4,4’−ジメチルジフェニルアミノ)−p−ターフェニル(化合物No.6)からなるp−ターフェニル化合物混合物を化合物No.1:化合物No.19:化合物No.6=64.5:31.4:3.6(高速液体クロマトグラフィーによるピーク面積比)の混合比で24.68g(収率;82.5%、融点;172.6〜173.8℃)得た。
単一合成したものの同定は元素分析によって行い、それぞれ目的物であることを確認した。元素分析値は以下の通りである。化合物No.1;炭素:89.13%(89.15%)、水素:6.15%(6.12%)、窒素:4.72%(4.73%)、化合物No.19;炭素:89.15%(89.07%)、水素:6.42%(6.31%)、窒素:4.43%(4.62%)、化合物No.6;炭素:89.02%(88.99%)、水素:6.51%(6.49%)、窒素:4.47%(4.51%)(計算値をかっこ内に示す。)。図10に合成実施例3で作製した化合物No.1、No.19およびNo.6からなるp−ターフェニル化合物混合物のIRスペクトルを示す。
合成実施例1〜3のp−ターフェニル化合物混合物および単一合成したp−ターフェニル化合物(化合物No.1、No.4、No.6およびNo.9)の25℃におけるテトラヒドロフランに対する溶解度を測定した。結果を表1に示した。溶解度の単位は%(重量/体積)で表した。
アルコール可溶性ポリアミド(アミランCM−4000、東レ株式会社製)1部をメタノール13部に溶解した。これに酸化チタン(タイペークCR−EL、石原産業株式会社製)5部を加え、ペイントシェーカーで8時間分散し、アンダーコート層用塗布液を作成した後、アルミ蒸着PETフィルムのアルミ面上にワイヤーバーを用いて塗布し、60℃で1時間乾燥し、厚さ1μmのアンダーコート層を形成した。
感光体実施例1で用いた電荷輸送剤を合成実施例2〜3で合成したp−ターフェニル化合物混合物に変えて、それ以外は感光体実施例1と同様にして感光体No.2〜3を作製した。
感光体実施例1で用いた電荷輸送剤を化合物No.1の単一合成したp−ターフェニル化合物に変えて、それ以外は感光体実施例1と同様にして感光体No.4を作製した。
感光体実施例1で用いた電荷輸送剤を化合物No.4の単一合成したp−ターフェニル化合物に変えて、それ以外は感光体実施例1と同様にして感光体No.5を作製した。
感光体実施例1で用いた電荷輸送剤を化合物No.6の単一合成したp−ターフェニル化合物に変えて、それ以外は感光体実施例1と同様にして感光体No.6を作製した。しかし、化合物No.6の単一合成したp−ターフェニル化合物は溶解しなかったため感光体としての評価はできなかった。
感光体実施例1で用いた電荷輸送剤を化合物No.9の単一合成したp−ターフェニル化合物に変えて、それ以外は感光体実施例1と同様にして感光体No.7を作製した。しかし、化合物No.9の単一合成したp−ターフェニル化合物は溶解しなかったため感光体としての評価はできなかった。
電荷発生剤としてCu−KαのX線回折スペクトルにおける回折角2θ±0.2°が7.5、10.3、12.6、22.5、24.3,25.4、28.6に強いピークを有するチタニルフタロシアニン(電荷発生剤No.2)、1.5部をポリビニルブチラール樹脂(エスレックBL−S、積水化学工業株式会社製)の3%シクロヘキサノン溶液50部に加え、超音波分散機で1時間分散した。得られた分散液を導電性支持体であるアルミ蒸着PETフィルムのアルミ面上にワイヤーバーを用いて塗布後、常圧下110℃で1時間乾燥して膜厚0.2μmの電荷発生層を形成した。
感光体実施例4で用いた電荷輸送剤を合成実施例2〜3で合成したp−ターフェニル化合物混合物に変えて、それ以外は感光体実施例4と同様にして感光体No.9〜10を作製した。
感光体実施例4で用いた電荷輸送剤を化合物No.1またはNo.4の単一合成したp−ターフェニル化合物に変えて、それ以外は感光体実施例4と同様にして感光体No.11〜12を作製した。
感光体実施例4で用いた電荷輸送剤を化合物No.6またはNo.9の単一合成したp−ターフェニル化合物に変えて、それ以外は感光体実施例4と同様にして感光体No.13〜14を作製した。しかし、化合物No.6またはNo.9の単一合成したp−ターフェニル化合物は溶解しなかったため感光体としての評価はできなかった。
感光体実施例4〜6および感光体比較例5〜8で作製した感光体についてドリフト移動度を測定した。測定はTime−of−flight法で行い、2×105(V/cm)で測定した。結果を表3に示した。

Claims (1)
- 下記一般式(1)および一般式(2)で表される2種類の対称型p−ターフェニル化合物と、該化合物の双方の置換基群を併せ持つ下記一般式(3)で表される非対称型p−ターフェニル化合物からなるp−ターフェニル化合物混合物の製造方法であって、下記一般式(4)および一般式(5)で表される2種類のジフェニルアミン化合物と4,4”−ジヨード−p−ターフェニルから一段階の反応によって前記p−ターフェニル化合物混合物を得る製造方法。
