Description
請求項1に記載の発明では、内燃機関の排気通路に設けられた排気浄化触媒と、前記排気通路を通じて排気に燃料を供給することにより、前記排気浄化触媒の触媒温度を硫黄酸化物が放出され得る温度にするとともに、前記排気浄化触媒に吸蔵された硫黄酸化物を還元して放出させる放出制御手段とを備える排気浄化装置において、前記排気浄化触媒における前記硫黄酸化物の吸蔵量の変化に基づいて同硫黄酸化物の放出が停滞しているかどうかを判定する放出停滞判定手段と、前記放出停滞判定手段により放出が停滞していると判定されると、前記放出制御手段による燃料の供給を中断する中断手段とを備えている。
図1は、車両に搭載されたディーゼルエンジン(以下、単にエンジンという)10及びその排気浄化装置11の構成を示している。エンジン10は、大きくは吸気通路12、燃焼室13、及び排気通路14を備えて構成されている。吸気通路12の最上流部には、同吸気通路12に吸入された空気を浄化するエアクリーナ15が設けられている。エンジン10においては、エアクリーナ15から吸気下流側に向けて順に、吸気通路12内の空気の流量を検出するエアフロメータ16、ターボチャージャ17のコンプレッサ17A、インタークーラ18、及び吸気絞り弁19が配設されている。そして、吸気通路12は、吸気絞り弁19の吸気下流側に設けられた吸気マニホールド20において分岐されており、この分岐部分を通じて、エンジン10の各気筒の燃焼室13に接続されている。
さらに、エンジン10には、排気の一部を吸気中に再循環させる排気再循環(以下、「EGR」と記載する)装置が採用されている。EGR装置は、吸気通路12と排気通路14とを連通させるEGR通路27を備えて構成されている。EGR通路27の上流側は、排気通路14の排気マニホールド26とタービン17Bとの間に接続されている。EGR通路27の途中には、その上流側から順に、再循環される排気を浄化するEGRクーラ触媒28、再循環される排気を冷却するEGRクーラ29、再循環される排気の流量を調整するEGR弁30が配設されている。そしてEGR通路27の下流側は、吸気通路12の吸気絞り弁19と吸気マニホールド20との間に接続されている。
(iii )大気圧が一定値以上であること。
(v)S被毒回復中断フラグがOFFであること。これについては後述する。
(vi)アイドル放置時間が一定値以下であること。
上記の(i)〜(vii)の条件が全て満たされた場合にのみS被毒回復制御実行条件が満たされる。そして、S被毒回復制御実行条件が成立していると、ステップ130へ移行してS被毒回復制御モードを触媒制御モードとして設定する。
一方、前記ステップ310,320,340の判定条件が満たされない場合には、ステップ360〜380において前記S放出停滞判定値とそのときどきのS被毒量とに基づき、S放出停滞フラグを設定する。ステップ360では、S放出停滞判定値がそのときのS被毒量以上であるかどうかを判定する。この判定条件が満たされているとステップ370でS放出停滞フラグをOFFに設定し、満たされていないとステップ380で同S放出停滞フラグをONに設定する。このように、S放出停滞判定値の算出時以外に、S放出停滞判定値とS被毒量との比較結果に基づきS放出停滞フラグが設定される。そして、前記ステップ350,370又は380の処理を経た後、次の条件成立時間カウンタの処理(ステップ400)へ移行する。
タイミングt1において、S被毒量が所定値S1を越えると、S被毒回復要求フラグがOFFからONに切替えられ、この切替えにより触媒再生制御モードが触媒制御モードとして設定される。この設定に応じて触媒再生制御が行われることにより両触媒コンバータ32,33に堆積した微粒子物質PMが燃焼除去されて微粒子物質PMの堆積量が増加から減少に転じる。両触媒コンバータ32,33におけるS被毒量は増加してゆく。
その後、タイミングt4において、車速SPDが所定値V1以下になると、図5のステップ310→320→330→350の処理によりS放出停滞判定値が算出される。
(1)エンジン10の運転状態によっては、排気へ燃料が供給されても硫黄酸化物SOxの放出が進まず、両触媒コンバータ32,33における硫黄酸化物SOxの吸蔵量(S被毒量)があまり減少しない現象が起こり得る。この場合、排気への燃料供給を続けても硫黄酸化物SOxを放出させることができない可能性がある。この点、本実施形態では、両触媒コンバータ32,33におけるS被毒量の変化に基づいて、硫黄酸化物SOxの放出が停滞しているかどうかの判定を行い、放出が停滞していると判定した場合には、排気への燃料供給を中断するようにしている。そのために、S放出停滞フラグがOFFであることをS被毒回復制御実行条件の1つに加え、同S放出停滞フラグがONであるときにはS被毒回復制御を中断するようにしている。この中断により、無駄な燃料の供給を少なくして燃費の悪化を抑制することができる。
・前記実施形態において、触媒再生制御モードが設定されること(ステップ630)を、S被毒回復中断フラグをOFFさせる条件から外してもよい。
Claims (9)
- 内燃機関の排気通路に設けられた排気浄化触媒と、
前記排気通路を通じて排気に燃料を供給することにより、前記排気浄化触媒の触媒温度を硫黄酸化物が放出され得る温度にするとともに、前記排気浄化触媒に吸蔵された硫黄酸化物を還元して放出させる放出制御手段と
を備える排気浄化装置において、
前記排気浄化触媒における前記硫黄酸化物の吸蔵量の変化に基づいて同硫黄酸化物の放出が停滞しているかどうかを判定する放出停滞判定手段と、
前記放出停滞判定手段により放出が停滞していると判定されると、前記放出制御手段による燃料の供給を中断する中断手段と
を備えることを特徴とする排気浄化装置。 - 前記内燃機関は車両に搭載されており、前記放出停滞判定手段は少なくとも前記車両の走行速度が渋滞判定用の所定値以下であることを条件に前記判定を行うものである請求項1に記載の排気浄化装置。
- 前記放出停滞判定手段は、前記停滞判定用の所定条件が満たされると、そのときの前記排気浄化触媒における硫黄酸化物の吸蔵量に基づき判定値を設定し、その設定後の前記排気浄化触媒における硫黄酸化物の吸蔵量と前記判定値とを比較し、その比較結果に基づき、硫黄酸化物の放出が停滞しているかどうかを判定するものである請求項2に記載の排気浄化装置。
- 前記判定値は、前記停滞判定用の所定条件が満たされたときの排気浄化触媒における硫黄酸化物の吸蔵量から所定値を減算した値である請求項3に記載の排気浄化装置。
- 前記停滞判定用の所定条件は、前記放出制御手段による放出制御中であって前記車両の走行速度が前記渋滞判定用の所定値以下になった直後であることを含む請求項3又は4に記載の排気浄化装置。
- 前記停滞判定用の所定条件は、前記車両の走行速度が渋滞判定用の所定値以下であって前記放出制御手段による放出制御が開始されたときであることを含む請求項3〜5のいずれか1つに記載の排気浄化装置。
- 前記放出停滞判定手段は、前記放出制御手段による放出制御中に前記車両の走行速度が前記渋滞判定用の所定値以下であって、硫黄酸化物の吸蔵量が前記判定値よりも多い状態が所定時間にわたって継続すると前記硫黄酸化物の放出が停滞していると判定する請求項2〜6のいずれか1つに記載の排気浄化装置。
- 前記中断手段による放出制御の中断は前記車両の走行速度が非渋滞判定用の所定値以上となったときに解除される請求項2〜7のいずれか1つに記載の排気浄化装置。
- 前記排気浄化触媒は、排気中の微粒子物質を捕捉するとともに捕捉した微粒子物質を燃焼除去する機能を有しており、前記中断手段による放出制御の中断は、前記排気浄化触媒に堆積した微粒子物質を燃焼除去するための要求がなされたときに解除される請求項1〜8のいずれか1つに記載の排気浄化装置。
