Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a light emitting diode and an illumination device including the same.
A white light emitting diode having the following configuration is known (see Patent Document 1). In this light emitting diode, a blue LED chip is disposed inside a cup having a function of a reflecting mirror formed on one metal stem through a transparent resin mount. Then, one electrode of the blue LED chip is connected to one metal stem via a bonding wire, and the other electrode is connected to the other metal stem via a bonding wire. Further, it is doubly sealed with an internal resin in which a phosphor emitting yellow light is dispersed and a transparent outer resin surrounding the internal resin from above. The above-mentioned mount of transparent resin is described in
In the above known white light emitting diode, since the blue LED chip is mounted in the reflecting mirror using the transparent resin mount, it is reflected while repeatedly reflecting in the mount among the light emitted toward the back surface of the blue LED chip. A part of the light emitted into the mirror enters the reflecting mirror and is reflected and projected forward of the white light emitting diode.
Generally, the light emitted to the back side of the LED chip is about 1/3 of the total radiation. In the case of the known white light emitting diode described in
An object of the present invention is to provide a light emitting diode that effectively contributes light emitted to the back side of an LED chip to light distribution of the light emitting diode, and an illumination device using the light emitting diode.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a light emitting diode with reduced color unevenness and a lighting device using the same when color conversion is performed using a phosphor.
The light-emitting diode of the present invention is a light-emitting diode chip; a light-emitting diode chip is mounted on the upper surface, and light emitted from the light-emitting diode chip to the back side is incident from the upper surface, totally reflected on the inner surface, and emitted to the side. And a light front projection means for projecting light emitted from the total reflection prism to the front side of the light emitting diode chip.
In the present invention, part of the light emitted from the light emitting diode chip is emitted to the back side. Therefore, the other chip structure is not limited as long as a part of the light emission is emitted to the back side. Further, the emission color of the light emitting diode chip is not particularly limited.
The total reflection prism is a means for mounting the light emitting diode chip and functions as a means for reflecting the light emitted from the light emitting diode chip to the back surface side. In order to mount the light emitting diode chip on the upper surface of the total reflection prism, a transparent adhesive such as a silicone resin can be used, but it is also possible to mount it directly on the total reflection prism without using an adhesive. For example, the light emitting diode chip is mounted when at least the upper surface of the total reflection prism is in a molten state. Further, even when an adhesive is used separately from the total reflection prism, the light incident loss can be reduced by using an adhesive that is the same as or close to the refractive index of the total reflection prism.
In addition, the constituent material of the total reflection prism is not particularly limited. For example, a transparent material such as plastics such as acrylic resin, glass and ceramics can be used.
Further, the shape of the total reflection surface of the total reflection prism is not particularly limited. For example, a total reflection surface having a shape such as a conical shape, a quadrangular pyramid shape, or a gable roof shape can be appropriately employed in order to obtain desired light distribution characteristics.
The light front projecting means is a means for projecting the light emitted to the side by the total reflection prism to the front of the light emitting diode chip to contribute to the light distribution as the light emitting diode, and its specific configuration is not particularly limited. . For example, one or a plurality of known light control means such as a reflector, a prism, a diffusion layer, and a lens can be used in combination. In the case of a reflector, the reflector is configured not only to project the light emitted from the total reflection prism to the side, but also to reflect the light emitted from the light emitting diode chip to the side and the front. Can do. In the case of a prism, the prism can be formed integrally or separately from the total reflection prism. In the case of the diffusion layer, the optical path can be changed so that the light emitted to the side of the total reflection prism is diffused and projected forward.
According to the present invention, since the light emitting diode chip is mounted using the total reflection prism, the light emitted from the light emitting diode chip to the back can be projected forward at a very high rate, so that the light emission efficiency is improved. A light emitting diode and a lighting device using the same can be provided.
Further, according to the present invention, when the light emitted from the light emitting diode chip to the back is projected forward, the optical characteristics of the total reflection prism and / or the light front projection means are adjusted in advance, Since the projection direction can be controlled, it is possible to provide a light emitting diode having a desired light distribution characteristic and an illumination device using the light emitting diode.
Furthermore, according to the present invention, in the case where, for example, blue light emitted from the light emitting diode chip is used to obtain white light emission using wavelength conversion by a phosphor, the light is emitted from the light emitting diode chip to the back and is totally reflected. Since the light emitted from the prism to the side increases, if this light is wavelength-converted by the phosphor layer and then projected forward, the amount of light that is wavelength-converted increases, resulting in a light-emitting diode. Therefore, it is possible to provide a light emitting diode in which the area of the light emitting portion from the light source is increased, the luminance is leveled, and the color unevenness is reduced, and a lighting device using the same.
Hereinafter, embodiments for carrying out the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.
1 to 4 show a first embodiment for carrying out a light emitting diode of the present invention, FIG. 1 is a front sectional view, FIG. 2 is a plan view, and FIG. 3 is an enlarged partial sectional front view of a main part. FIG. 4 is an enlarged plan view of the main part.
In this embodiment, the light-emitting diode LED includes a light-emitting
The light-emitting
The
In the present embodiment, the
The light forward projection means 3 is a means for projecting the light emitted from the total reflection prism to the side from the light emitting diode forward. In this embodiment, as shown in FIG. 1, the light front projection means 3 is constituted by a concave reflector having a reverse truncated cone shape. The concave reflector constituting the light front projection means 3 is made of, for example, PBT (polybutylene terephthalate), PPA (polyphthalamide), PC (polycarbonate), and the like, and is a white system disposed on the surface of the
The
The support substrate 4a is a means for supporting components other than the light-emitting
The white insulating layer 4 b is formed on the surface of the support substrate 4 a and serves as a reflective bottom surface of the concave reflector that constitutes the light front projection means 3.
The circuit pattern 4c is a means for connecting the light-emitting
The pair of
The
The
The
Thus, in the light emitting diode of the present invention, most of the light emitted from the light emitting
Further, in this embodiment, since the light emitting
On the other hand, the light emitted forward and laterally from the light emitting
As described above, the light emitted in all directions of the light-emitting
As can be understood from the above description, in the present invention, the light emitted from the light emitting
FIG. 5 shows a plan view and a front sectional view of a total reflection prism in the second and third embodiments for implementing the light-emitting diode of the present invention, where (a) shows the second embodiment and (b) shows the third. In this embodiment, the light front projection means 3 is constituted by a prism in which the
