Abstract

999,051. Electrostatic precipitators. METALLGESELLSCHAFT A.G. Dec. 3, 1962 [Dec. 2, 1961], No. 45660/62. Heading B2J. The corona discharge electrodes are of angle shape in cross-section with their apexes pointing in the direction of, or contrary to, the direction of gas flow. This arrangement ensures that, when the electrodes are tensioned in their frame, those that tend to buckle will do so in a plane parallel to the collecting electrodes. A suitable angle α is chosen so as to give a desired characteristic of discharge. The electrodes are cleaned of dust by vibration.
