Abstract

859,870. Electrostatic precipitation. METALLGESELLSCHAFT A.G. July 14, 1959 [Nov. 25, 1958], No. 24227/59. Class 39(1). The collecting electrodes of an electrostatic precipitator consist of rows of C-shaped members having curved flanges F and alternately facing in opposite directions, the distance between the flanges of a C-shaped member equalling the radius R1 of the corona discharge from a discharge electrode. The discharge points S are arranged to face only the mouths of the cavities. The sides of the discharge electrodes facing the flat portions if the C- shaped members are rounded to avoid discharge in that direction, or the spacing may be greater in that direction. Suitable electrode dimensions are given.
