Abstract

965,575. Binding posts; terminal blocks. J. & S. ENGINEERS Ltd. July 12, 1962 [July 13, 1961], No. 25390/61. Heading H2E. A terminal block comprises an insulating housing 1 having conductor-receiving passageways 7, 8 containing waisted contact plates 25, each extending under two communicating bores 15 threaded to receive insulating grubscrews 16 with conductive inserts 19 rotatably held therein for clamping the conductors. The screws 16 and housing 1 are preferably made of thermoplastic material, e.g. nylon, which may be distorted to receive associated inserts 19 and plates 25 respectively, each plate 25 being shaped as shown (Fig. 1) to fit its passageway and corrugated for improved contact. Each insert 19 has a peg with an annular groove which is engaged by an annular projection in a bore 18 in screw 16. The block shown in Fig. 1 may be moulded with others to form a strip, and such strips or individual blocks may be provided with dovetail connection members. Integral mounting flanges 13, 14 are provided.
