Abstract
914,907. Coffee-making apparatus. THERMA A.G. Dec. 22, 1959 [Dec. 22, 1958], No. 43440/59. Class 129 A closed hot-water vessel 5 with a small opening 16 to the exterior above the highest water level therein delivers hot water through a tube 15 leading from its deepest point above the highest water level and then to a filter vessel 2 containing a float 12 co-operating with tube 15 to regulate the liquid level in vessel 2. As shown, a ceramic coffee pot 1 supports ceramic filter vessel 2 in which ground coffee is held in a paper filter 3. The vessel 5, having a lid 7 held by a clasp 8 rests on filter vessel 2 and the water therein is heated by a spiral 11 whose current supply is controlled by handle 10. When the water in vessel 5 boils, it is discharged through tube 15 until vessel 2 is full of water, when a valve pin 14 carried on ribs 13 on float 12 closes the lower end of tube 15. As the coffee beverage runs out of the filter vessel the float drops and more water runs through. Float 12 is connected at 17 to vessel 5.
