904,038. Shuttering for casting concrete. HOLLOWAY, A. L. Nov. 16, 1960 [Nov. 16, 1959], No. 38791/59. Class 20 (2). [Also in Group V] Decoration is formed on the surface of concrete by means of a lining 2, Fig. 1, of foamed polystyrene on the shuttering 6. Depressions in the polystyrene for forming projections on the concrete are made by machining or melting, e.g. with a soldering-iron, and projections on the polystyrene may be stuck on. The polystyrene is eventually removed for instance with a wire brush, but may be left on for a time, to support the concrete after the shuttering is removed. Mosaic or tiles may be attached to the polystyrene and left in the concrete. Pigmented sand and cement 30, Fig. 3, may be cast in depressions in a lining 24 of foamed polystyrene on which a further thin layer 28 of polystyrene has been laid and which is removed when the sand &c. 30 has set, leaving projecting ends which are embedded in concrete after the polystyrene layer 24 has been attached to shuttering.
