Abstract

The facing slab is made up of a number of decorative elements of brick or cut slate cast flush into a bed of concrete. The decorative elements are placed face down in a mould on a vibrating table and the concrete is cast with or without reinforcement over and around them. After the concrete has set, the slab is a struck from the mould and its outer face is coated with a thin layer of hardening material to ensure weather protection and durability.
