Abstract

806,160. Stop motions; thread guides. CELANESE CORPORATION OF AMERICA. Feb. 21, 1957 [Feb 21, 1956], No. 5881/57. Class 120(2) Textile apparatus in which a yarn runs under tension from a feeding device to a yarn package support on which it is wound comprises means for severing the yarn, and means operated by the tension in the yarn for bringing the yarn and the severing means into contact at a point between the feeding device and the yarn package support and thereby severing the yarn when the said tension exceeds a predetermined value. As shown, yarn passes over a driven feed roll 12, through a guide 13, again over the roll 12, to a guide 14, and through a guide 16 to a package 20. The guide 14 is mounted at one end 27 of a lever 28, which is pivoted on a pin 29 to a slotted plate 31, and a counterweight is adjustably secured to the other end 33. A wire mesh cutter 36 is carried by the plate 31. When tension in the yarn becomes excessive the guide 14 is forced downward until the yarn comes into contact with the cutter 36 and is severed.
