Abstract

778,072. Supply systems depending on the use of transformers; transformers. HOLLAND, F. W. April 14, 1955 [April 9, 1954], No. 10486/54. Classes 38 (2) and 38 (4). A portable table lamp 4 is operated through a transformer, the secondary winding 7 of which is mounted on a part-core 6 in the base 5 of the lamp standard 2 and which is energized by appropriately placing the base over a corresponding part-core 9 and primary winding 10 secured to the under surface of the table top 1. To prevent excessive current flow in the primary winding when the lamp standard is not in position, the part-core 9 may be provided with a magnetic shunt 12, or the primary winding may be of resistance wire or connected in series with an external resistor or condenser.
