Abstract

751,258. Pipe cleaning appliances. KNIGHT, G. H., and KNIGHT, J. G. March 14, 1955 [March 25, 1954], No. 8683/54. Class 99(2). A flexible rod a furnished at one end a<SP>2</SP> with a coiled hook c and at the other end with a socket a<SP>1</SP> for connection to a thrust rod, has a number of radially projecting arms d<SP>1</SP> the free ends of which carry anti-friction balls d2 adapted to bear on the wall of a pipe. As shown, the rod a is of tightly coiled spring wire and is tapered at the end a<SP>2</SP>. Surrounding the rod and secured thereto at spaced intervals are collars d each having four arms d<SP>1</SP> spaced at 90 degrees. Anti-friction ball races are disposed within the cups beneath the balls d<SP>2</SP> to provide for free rotation of the balls in all directions. A duplex rubber disc e, e<SP>1</SP> is employed between the rod a and the thrust rod which is engaged with the adaptor f.
