Abstract

711,180. Felt ; milling. MITCHELLS ASHWORTH, STANSFIELD & CO. Ltd. March 30, 1953 [March 4, 1952], No. 5613/52. Classes 42 (1) and 42 (2) Felt, especially'carpet felt. is formed by carding two separate laps of two different types and colours of wool fibres, hardening the laps together, and then milling them so that a proportion of fibres from each lap work through into the other lap so as to give a mixture effect. One' lap may be made of material suitable for the face of the felt and the other of materal suitable for the back. One lap may be darker than the other; in order to avoid dark fibres being milled on to the light lap to an undue light sides in contact, being stitched together along the length of the piece, so that a light side does not contact a dark side. The felt may be dyed in the piece to give a two-shade mixture effect on both face and back.
