Abstract
639,319. Hot-water supply systems. MILNER, J. B. Oct. 1, 1948, Nos. 25589/48 and 618/49. [Class 64(i)] A hot-water storage tank is provided externally or; as shown, internally with a mixing chamber a into the upper part of which open the boiler flow and return pipes b and a rising pipe c the other end of which opens at the top of the tank, a second pipe f connecting the top of the tank to the mixing chamber for the return of hot water to the latter to replace partially the hot water flowing up through the rising pipe c, the remainder of the replacement being by cold water drawn from the bottom of the tank, e.g. through a pipe e. The pipes c, f may be insulated, e.g. by air spaces enclosed by coaxial pipes d. g. The pipe f may be equal in bore to the pipes b. The pipe e has a smaller diameter than the pipe c, which has a smaller diameter than the pipes b. Specification 639,318 is referred to. According to the first Provisional Specification, the pipe f is omitted and the pipe e may have branches connected to the tank at any level.
