[Class 20(iii)] Draught-excluding means for doors. windows &c. comprises a resilient strip having an attachment portion 2 including a substantially flat part, and an integrally formed closed tubular effective portion 1, connected with the portion 2 as shown, so as to provide between the tube 1 and the flat part a blind recess 3 of a depth equal to the whole or major part of the tube. The recess receives a plate or plain flange which may be secured to the strip and is sandwiched between the portions 1 and 2 under the closing action of the door &c. In the form shown in Fig. 1, a car door pillar 4 has two flanges 5 receiving draught excluding strips, and one of the doors 8 is shown closed. The strips have a fabric or other covering 7 and the portions' 2 are covered by a trimming strip 6. The recesses 3 are tapered so that draughts are excluded even on light closing of the door. In the strip shown in Fig. 2, the recess 3 is so shaped that the plate or flange is resiliently gripped between portions 1 and 2. Fig. 7 shows draught excluding means associated with a carpet 11 at the bottom of a door 15. The portion 2 is of angle section and secured to an angle plate 13 screwed to the floor. Alternatively, the portion 2 may be of channel section and grips the edge of the carpet. Various other modifications in the shape of the strips are described and shown. For example, the recess 3 may contain a shoulder or abutment to limit the entry of the plate or flange. The plate or flange may be slit or cut so that it can be bent to any designed shape.
