Abstract
591,923. Chairs. BERNUTH, LEMBCKE, CO., Inc. May 1, 1945, No. 11034. Convention date, April 21, 1944. [Class 104(ii)] A track-spike D is held against upward movement by a clamp plate E, one end of which is adapted to seat on the head of the .spike and. the other end of which is adapted to seat upon a tie plate B or on a second track-spike, the medial portion 16 of the plate E being held by fastening means F, and one end portion being either vertical or separated.from the medial portion by a vertical leg 17, Fig. 1. One of the spikes D, Fig. 1, may also serve to hold the rail-flange, and the fastening means F may comprise a nut and bolt 15 holding the plate E which may be set obliquely to the rail C. The tie-plate may be held by two spikes D, Fig. 7, both of whose heads are engaged by a plate E having a medial portion separated from each end portion by a vertical leg 17, an additional plate El being attached to the fastening means F to retain the rail flange. The plate E<1> may have an inner end portion 19 adapted to engage the rail flange, or part of it may engage the tie-plate while the portion 19 overlies the rail flange but is spaced from it. Alternatively, Fig. 13, the tie-plate may be held by a spike D, the head of which is engaged by a plate E having its end portion 22<1> turned downwardly so that its end is vertical and engages the tie-plate. Specifications 591,886 and 591,888 are referred to.
